1st week of kindergarten

Well, we've all survived the first week of kindergarten. Georgia is now gone from 8 to 3 and Ben has found he likes being an only child! He's a little hostile when she comes back in the afternoon. We take her to school, but she is riding the bus home with her friends from the neighborhood. We had lunch with her at school on Thursday and I hope to do that weekly. Georgia has been ready to go to bed at 7 and has even admitted that "she's tired" for the first time ever!! Other than that she loves her new classmates, teachers (Miss Wethington left and Mrs. Thomas right) and school.

Duck Pond

We went to the duck pond yesterday for the first time with Ben! He thought it was pretty cool to be surrounded on all sides...gotta say I was a little frightened. :) Jason had to wonder out loud if they might go into a feeding frenzy when we ran out of bread. They didn't have a chance to since Georgia started chasing them back into the water. She really enjoyed that!

More of the beach bums...

I couldn't leave these good pics out...Enjoy!

Beach Bums!

After we celebrated with friends and family, we headed to Myrtle Beach for a short getaway. Georgia was living it up on her 5th birthday- we went to the beach, pool, Ripley's Aquarium, and even a Captain Hook's themed put-put golf. Ben warmed up to the beach, but preferred the pool. Georgia loved being out in the water with her daddy. It's not easy getting back into a routine... if we can just get dad to put up her own jump and slide bouncer she got from the Hendley/Pohto crew!

Georgia turns 5!

Georgia celebrated her birthday like a princess this year! We had a party at Pump It Up with a few of her friends and lots of family! It was so much fun for kids and even more so for the parents. :) I know someone took a pic of Grandma Sue and Del going down the slide?!? But isn't that too cute of Grandma & Grandpa Hendley? Thanks so much to all of you for being a part of her special day. She's a lucky girl. And even though you couldn't make it, Grandpa Kaliope and Bonnie, you certainly added to the festivities! Thanks so much for the special princess cookies all the way from Hawaii!!

Ben will survive!

Don't worry, Ben is going to turn out just fine! I don't think today caused any permanent damage...except maybe to Jason. Georgia decided to dress up as Wendy (from Peter Pan) and instead of needing Ben to play Peter Pan, she wanted him to be Wendy's mom! Besides it's very hard to find boy "dress up" clothes, so if you find a fireman's costume, let me know. All in all, a good day...except for when Jason saw the pictures. :)

Our Charlotte Visit to see the Browns!

We headed to Charlotte, NC on Saturday to see our old friends from Virginia. Jen & Shaun had been visiting Jen's folks and we stopped in before they headed home. It was such a wonderful time getting to hang out again and meeting their newest addition, Lauren. Lauren was born 7 days after Ben. Josh and Caleb have grown up so much and Georgia loved the attention they both gave. Maybe one day we'll get them to move down here! :) We miss you guys!

Ben has taken his first step!!

What an exciting day! I was inspired by my friend Reagan to create a blog and what better time than today. Ben took his first steps! We went to Gattitown with the Kleppers (Reagan, Kevin, and Ava Grace) for dinner. After dinner we decided to ride the carousel and play a few games. While Jason was playing skee ball I was entertaining Ben. When I grabbed Ben's hands to get him to a standing position, I was expecting the usual response of a limp body melting into the floor. Not this time! He acted interested in a walk so I motioned to Reagan who was in front of us. She cheered him on and that is when he took his first step towards Reagan! HOORAY! With all the fuss we made over this long awaited milestone, he was glowing with a prideful smile. I didn't have my camera, but Reagan happened to get a few shots so we will post those soon.
